Most people think of mindfulness as a practice that you do in a yoga studio or on a meditation cushion. While those are both great ways to become more mindful, it's actually something you can start incorporating into your everyday life right now. Here are three simple tips to get you started.
1. Pay attention to your breath. Whenever you have a few minutes, take a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Focusing on your breath is a great way to calm and focus yourself.
2. Take notice of your thoughts and feelings. Instead of pushing them away, try accepting them for what they are without judgement.
3. Make time for yourself each day. Even if it's just 10 or 15 minutes.
Becoming more mindful is a practice that takes time and patience, but the benefits are worth it. If you're just starting out, try implementing one of these tips each day this week. See how you feel at the end of the week and decide if you want to add any other mindfulness practices to your routine. What has been your experience with mindfulness? Have you seen any changes in your life since you started practicing?
